The Greeks believed that all the gods descended Gae (Earth) and Uranium (the sky). Thought that the gods are very similar to people: that they love each other, get married, have children, play music, and they shall continue to strongly reflect the human characteristics. Each god had its influential area. The gods lived on Mount Olympus, where the world had a grand palace and the palaces. For many the most famous gods are focused on temples and other shrines, which is used to spending a lot of money and artistic capabilities. Religion has played in the lives of people important place. They were always situated on a high spot, and were often used as a place for shelter and defence against various enemies.

Despite the unique historical, symbolic and cultural value of the monument, the cultural offense of the brutal removal of the sculptures from the Athenian Acropolis, committed by Elgin in the 19th century, is continued today by the British Museum, who refuse to return the sculptures to Athens.
