Halkidiki is situated in the north of Greece, on the map looks like three fingers. They are three famous Greek peninsulas, located near the city of Thessaloniki. Of the three peninsulas, Cassandra, Sithonia and M. Athos, the last is independent state, which belongs to the Greek Orthodox Church. Interestingly, the entry to the M. Athos is prohibited for children, women and even female animals. Visit for the men’s is possible with the authorization, which must apply 6 months before. On this peninsula are 20 monasteries and only monks live here. The other two peninsulas are open to tourists, and also much visited. Halkidiki is famous for crystal-clear sea, golden sand on the beaches, beautiful nature, small villages, and olive groves and apply for one of the most beautiful places of Greece.
